i. Treat others with respect and kindness. Do not harass, be rude, or say hurtful things to anyone. Treat people the way you would like to be treated.
ii. Please refrain from having any arguments in the c-box or in threads. If there is an issue, try to resolve it in a PM. If it gets worse, please contact a staff member. Along with this, please refrain from posting about controversial topics (such as religion and political issues).
iii. This forum is rated PG-13. Members may swear/curse/cuss so long as it is not directed toward another member. No discrimination and offensive terms. We will not stand for it.
iv. This forum is LGBTqia friendly! So please respect that and make this forum a welcoming place for LGBTqia people.
v. One account per character. Members are allowed to make up to 3 characters at the start. They will need to "buy" more if they would like to have more characters later on. Staff members will need to have one account for staff powers.
vi. Advertising
We have a thread for members and guests to advertise their forum (here). No advertising forums in the chat box. The post will be deleted! Members are allowed to advertise their own forum(s) in their signature and/or profile.
vii. Chat Box
No advertising, trolling, flaming, etc. in the chat box. Especially do not pretend to be another member on the forum!
viii. Images
no banners/signatures/pictures that stretch the board. avatars should be 150x150 pixels. signatures and tables should not span greater than 850 pixels in width. try to keep them from exceeding 300 pixels in height. no avatars or banners/signatures or images that contain any sexual or inappropriate images. pictures of characters in bikinis are acceptable (to an extent). if you are unsure if an image would be acceptable or not, feel free to pm a staff member's opinion on it.

« Role-Play »
i. This forum is rated PG-13. You may have your characters swear/curse/cuss. characters may also experience violent scenes that might involve attacking other players or monsters. please make sure these scenes aren't very over the top violent. light sexual content is allowed, but keep in mind that it should stay within a pg-13 rating. Remember, "fade to black." if possible, give a warning in either the thread title or in the post so people who do not want to see certain material can avoid it. Do not take it to a PM! take it off the site. if you aren't too sure what you are posting is going beyond our rules, please feel free to pm a staff member about it. we will be glad to help you out!
ii. no god modding/power playing, no puppeteering (controlling someone's character entirely or partially), and no metagaming. no killing someone's character off unless the player of this said character has given you permission.
iii. liquid time is only allowed in cities. one thread only when your character is out questing, training, etc.
iv. no chat speak while role-playing unless your character is sending another player a message. we don't mind if it is elsewhere on the site though.
v. make sure your spelling is correct as well as grammar. we don't mind little mistakes since not everything is perfect. just make sure people understand what you are trying to say.
vi. Word count
For social threads - 150 words minimum.
For questing threads - 200 minimum.
We understand that members may have good posting days and bad days as well. This is completely fine! We would just like to keep members to push theirselves with their writing for their own betterment as well as preventing posts that are only a few sentences.
vii. try to keep a posting order if there are multiple members in a thread. if you don't keep to the posting order, you will probably make someone feel left out.

« Characters »
i. declined characters
characters will be denied if they have abilities/powers that the staff doesn't agree with, or the name of your character is deemed inappropriate. Staff members will give you multiple chances to change up your character until it is acceptable.
ii. finished bios
inform a staff member if you want your character's bio to be looked at on the Notification Thread. please be patient! once a bio is looked at by a staff member and approved or moved to the 'accepted characters' board, you will then be able to start role-playing as that character.
iii. please do not role-play if your character's bio has not been accepted.
iv. if you aren't finished with your character's bio just put 'wip' in the title and remove it once you have finished the bio.
v. we allow original characters so feel free to make some.
vi. lgbtqia friendly. we allow characters with any sexuality, any identity, as well as trans characters.
vii. face claims
you are able to use images of characters from any anime, manga, video game, or visual novel. this includes the sword art online characters; however, you will only be using their appearance. they will not be that exact character.
viii. please do not use an artist's artwork or their original character as your own unless 1.) it's your artwork or 2.) they give you permission (and you'd have to provide proof that they did). this is only because i know most artists dislike when people use their original characters for role-playing. this is just so you don't get in trouble!
ix. characters are allowed to have unusual hair color and eye color (blue, pink, purple, etc.) nothing crazy though like neon colors or rainbows. (you can use those for your character's clothing though, if you'd like).
x. please refrain from mary sue/gary sue type characters (basically characters that are flawless and have little to no weaknesses).
xi. considering alo does not use a level system and instead bases a lot of an avatar's ability based on the player's own ability, any physical ailments will be taken into account at the start. you must work towards overcoming those in game.

« Activity »
i. we would appreciate it if members were active (at least on a few times a week). staff members are expected to be more active than members.
ii. Please inform the staff if you are going away for an extended amount of time or if you have a busy schedule with work or personal things. Your personal life should come first and we will be understanding to that!
