City Traffic
Kouta sighed as he closed the door to his room behind him. There was only so much of his family that he could take before needing to seclude himself. Between the rants of his older sister being told to find a husband and the rants of hating the small country town from his other sister. Then there was the never-ending questions about what colleges he was going to apply to, that or when he was going to start working for one of the local farming families.
Once in his room he immediately went to his bed and threw himself upon it. I need to escape… he thought while he reached over and pulled his Amusphere off the bedside table and placed it over his eyes. As he went through the login process for ALfheim Online he lost his senses of being in his familiar room, and entered his new world.
The sun’s bright rays shone down onto him as he stood in one of the parks in Alne, the city beneath the World Tree. The city fascinated him, it was so much like the cities of the real world, yet he could see how different they were.
“Well, time to get going,” Fenix said while he stretched out his body, getting acclimated to the virtual world again. He began running from the park through the streets of Alne without a care in the world. He wanted to be on his way and go into the world as fast as he could so he would not have to worry about the real world.
Of course, in the one moment where he chose not to pay attention, he would run into the greatest mistake he could make in any social situation. As Fenix approached an intersection he noticed that a cart had just been pulled into the middle of it. He was going too fast to be able to simply stop. Brace for impact, he told himself as he hardened his body for the impact. The Salamander collided with the cart, and because of a partially realistic physics engine in the game, when the Salamander met an object with significantly more mass than he, he slammed into the cart as a ragdoll hitting moving car. With the other energy that was not lost, he was cast off to the side into a group of bystanders.
