RainingSalamanders
It only took a second for Kouta to close his eyes and reopen them to change his location. No longer was he in his dimly lit room facing the ceiling, but rather he was lying on a bed within an inn in the Salamander capital Gattan. Within Alfheim Kouta could leave behind the worries of his real-life and indulge in the life of his other identity. Controlling his avatar, the youth quickly exited the inn and headed in the direction of the large tower in the center of the city.
It was the prime time to be online, as players were all moving about. Going to different vendors or starting quests to get the full experience of this world. Fenix dodged through the crowd, getting to his location without having to utilize his map or looking up to see it. Though a small feat, it made him proud. He was finally getting used to this world, soon he would be able to maneuver through all the streets of the city without utilizing any resources.
Once the Salamander reached the tower he stepped into the main entrance and merged with the crowds of players that were utilizing the elevator to get to the top. When he was finally able to get in, he maneuvered himself to be leaning against the back wall. It was a bit awkward for him, as his sword was pressing into his back, but he dealt with it until the elevator reached the top. As soon as the doors were open, he waited for everyone else to get out before he too left the confines of the space.
On the roof, he walked to the edge and swiped his left index finger down, opening up the menu. He then selected the map icon and had a world map appear before him. His finger traced the different routes he could take to get to some place new, and then he saw the Ancient Forest.
I should check that place out, I’ve never been there before, he thought as he stared straight in the direction he would head in.
“Let’s go,” he said while taking a running leap while activating his wings. The red wings shot out behind him and immediately broke the fall he was about to take. With the speed Fenix quickly gained distance and was able to perform a short dive before climbing again. He was able to control most of this simple flight with the controller that was in his left hand.
Pushing the stick forward once he nearly reached the maximum height, he pushed the acceleration button, gaining speed. When he was within sight of the Ancient Forest, he began to slow down, wanting to control his descent into the new area. Fenix wanted to take in the sights and realize how much work had been put into making the region. Once he crossed the region border, he attempted to slow down, but for some reason he noticed that he was not slowing down, but he was rather falling, and quite quickly.
“What?!” he screamed while feeling the wind whip against as he collided into the weak branches. By the time he finally reached the ground, he began to question why he did not get the huge thud from hitting the ground. In fact, he would say that the area was soft. He could tell because his health bar had only fallen half-way, through some miracle.
“Now, where am I?” he asked aloud, looking around his surroundings.
